GCWCC honours outgoing Champlain CC President, Renee Gray

If you or someone you know has ever benefited from a program or service provided by your local community centre, thank its volunteers, including its board of directors and especially its president of the board! Last Saturday, the General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres (GCWCC) – the organization that oversees Winnipeg’s 63 community centres – honoured a few dozen special volunteers with “Above and Beyond” awards, plus recognized the tireless commitment of a number of outgoing community centre board presidents. One of the outgoing presidents showcased was our very own Renee Gray.

During her time as the President of Champlain Community Centre (CCC), Renee led our volunteer team to create the annual Soccer Jamboree for all our youth soccer teams.  She brought us into the 21st century to connect with our members through a website and Facebook page and has been a driving force behind our very successful Family New Years Eve Party. Renee also represented CCC at countless meetings to advocate for our centre and was true leader who always found a solution to an emerging issue, plus so much more! Our centre and the community that benefits from it owes an enormous debt of gratitude to Renee for her tireless efforts to keep CCC a strong and vibrant part of our community.
