Senior Edition Workshop- Threads of Identity
Champlain CC is pleased to introduce Joanne Roberts, a renowned Winnipeg-based storyteller and filmmaker exploring themes of identity and belonging. Join us for the Pieces of Me Workshop, taking place on Sunday, November 22, from 1-3pm for kids and families.
Through conversation and guided reflection, participants will consider the many different pieces that make up identity, from family and culture to meaningful places, relationships, work, community, passions, memories and the parts of ourselves that continue to change over time. Participants will then create a personal collage representing their own story. They can choose to design a personal coat of arms, create a book cover for the story of their life or a chapter of it, or build an open-form identity collage using images, words, colours and symbols. The emphasis is not on artistic ability, but on finding a creative way to recognize and share the stories that have made each person who they are. No art or storytelling experience is required.
